Posted November 14, 2019 09:19:24 The owners of a dog found in a Brisbane backyard have claimed they are not the pit bulls who were responsible for the attack.
The dogs, which belonged to a family friend, were found in the backyard of a home in the Brisbane suburb of Sturt last week.
The owners said they did not believe the dogs were pit bulls but said they are investigating.
“It’s like a big lie and it’s just really sad,” one of the dogs owner, John, told 7.30.
He said he believed the dogs belonged to his dog, a bulldog, and said the family friend was responsible for his dog being in the home.
A Queensland police spokesperson said a dog welfare officer would be on hand at the Sturt home this week to investigate.
“Police are aware of the circumstances and have been informed of the welfare concerns of the family and will be assisting in their welfare,” the spokesperson said.
